I
hope you are duly registered to vote, or reached
this status by October 28, if you moved from
a former residence to your new one during the
last year. In just a few days we will vote. Are
you ready?
We
will have the opportunity elect leaders to fill
positions in seven categories in our local and
surrounding areas: City Council, City Treasurer,
State Senate 37th District, State Assembly 71st
District, Western Municipal Water District, Corona-Norco
Unified School District Board, and 44th Congressional
District.
This
year, we will vote on a variety of changes which
will impact our lives in one way or another.
For me, it was a challenge to read and understand
the Official Voter Information Guide (OVIG) as
prepared by Secretary of State, Debra Bowen,
for the California General Election of November
4, 2008. It discusses State and Federal elections,
provides a quick-reference guide to the 12 State
propositions and the related text for each of
these proposed laws, and the overview of the
State Bond Debt language. You have the choice
and right to express your educated opinion, by
mail ballot, or at the polls. The OVIG provides
a list of various websites should you need pre-
and post-voting information.
Your
vote definitely counts. Vote Tuesday, November
4, 2008.
